I run my own practice based in Ayr, offering both face-to-face and online psychotherapy in the UK and further afield. I have an up-to-date Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Certificate and professional insurance.
Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
I trained as a child & adolescent psychotherapist at the Anna Freud Centre in London, qualifying in 1994. After graduating, I continued to work in London, seeing patients and teaching students at the Anna Freud Centre. I also worked at the Brandon Centre in Kentish Town, an adolescent drop in centre; and doing Face to Face work with the NHS in Walthamstow.
In 2005, I took up a Consultant post in Child Psychotherapy within the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, and made my home in Scotland.
I am a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapy www.childpsychotherapy.org.uk which is an accredited register of the Professional Standards Authority. The ACP sets the standards for training and continues to monitor all members’ practice for the entirety of their professional lives. This is through mandatory supervision and demonstration of further development of skills through a variety of CPD activities.
Adult Psychotherapy
In 2013, I extended my training to embrace adult psychotherapy with NEAPP (North East Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy).
I am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council www.bpc.org.uk which accredits the adult psychoanalytic training schools in the UK. The BPC also requires that adult psychotherapists are supervised, and fulfil a minimum level of continuing professional development (CPD). My member association is Scottish Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists www.sapp.org.uk
I also work with Human Development Scotland as a tutor on the ‘Therapeutic Work with Children and Young People’ course..
